Drinking Water Safety is a Huge Problem and Ultimately Our Responsibility

Although many people consider the issue of drinking water safety to be the problem of the EPA and the water treatment officials, it is also very much our problem too.

We are the ones who are ultimately affected by what comes out of our drinking water faucets.  It is so much our problem in fact that we may be expecting others to take care of this for us at the expensive our health.

The water treatment facilities try to ensure our drinking water safety by utilizing several steps in an effort to clean the water.  These steps include testing the water for impurities.  It is run through multiple cycles in order to filter out sediment and debris.  Finally the water is chlorinated in an effort to remove deadly parasites.

All of that effort goes in, and what comes out of our drinking water faucets is still barely fit for consumption.

We are told that it is fit to drink, but the bad news is it may not exactly be good for you.  I applaud the treatment facilities effort, but what they produce is still full of dangerous toxins.  To me,  that does not make it fit to drink.

The EPA simply does not set the bar high enough when it comes to public drinking water safety.  They have gone as far as to set what they call “safe levels” of contaminants in our reservoirs.  These safe levels are based on the EPA making too many assumptions and flawed thinking.

The EPA  assumes that the average American is 175 pounds in weight.  They assume that a person of that size will drink a certain set amount of water every day.

Well, what if you are a women, a child, or if you simply drink more water than is outlined in the standards?  If any of those three describes you, then the standard on “safe levels” doesn’t apply to you.

Then there is the EPA’s flawed thinking that only one contaminant will be present every time we turn on our drinking water faucets.  I find this shocking and upsetting.

There are well over 2,000 chemicals that have been identified as being present in our reservoir system.  What do you think the odds are that more that one of these toxins will be present in each glass that you consume?  Your odds are probably better in Las Vegas.

Scientists have been warning the EPA for years about chemicals and drinking water safety.  They have told them that in the likely event that two or more chemicals are mixed together, that the compounds will feed off of one another, each making the other infinitely stronger.  This fact means that the limits deemed safe for each individual chemical are set far too high.

Now there is a new impurity coming out of our drinking water faucets that we must contend with.  It is called pharmaceutical drugs.

In a test conducted by drinking water safety officials in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 56 different medications were present.  Preliminary findings show that when the medications were mixed with chlorine,  they slowed down the development of human cells.

The EPA and the water treatment facilities are trying, but they are ultimately failing in their bid for drinking water safety.  The list of contaminants present in our reservoirs is growing all of the time.  It has become our responsibility to protect the health of our family.

Buy and install a good home water purification system today.  The improvement in your drinking water faucets could wind up being the best investment that you will ever make.
