Communications: The MOST important aspect of working together is being able to communicate. Ask for help, offer help, exchange goods, identify dangers and warn of areas to avoid.

HAM radio has historically been reliable in almost every circumstance. Everyone should have the capability. Our radio of choice is the Baofeng UV-5R due to its sturdiness, reliability, power, many channels, and a cost that is affordable by many people.

As January, 2021, passes, YCPT has distributed approximately 1,000 hand held HAM radios throughout Yavapai County and has held Basic Radio classes in the use of the radio before every meeting to train as many as possible. In addition, our Basic Radio class has been recorded and is posted on Rumble.com and YouTube.com where many more have viewed it.

Anyone is permitted to listen to the HAM transmissions. However, to transmit one will need to have a HAM license, commonly called their “ticket”. Need help getting your ticket? The Communications team can help with that.
