Plan to survive
The easiest thing to do when preparing for a disaster is to create a survival plan. Think this sounds a bit extreme? In some countries like Australia, suburban home owners are issued sample survival plans by the government as massive fire outbreaks are a constant threat even in popular cities.
A survival plan should cover things such as meeting points, communication alternatives, key locations, contact details and special needs etc. This plan does not need to be an elaborate 25 page document it can simply be a list. Creating a survival plan is a free and very easy and should be the first thing you do.
Essentials
There are a number of basic essentials that we humans need to survive. Most of our basic survival essentials are taken care of day-to-day. We get our water, electricity and food fairly easily. For this reason, most of us don’t feel the need to carry all the daily essentials around with us, we know these things will happen, day after day.
What happens, however if they don’t…
However, in a disaster situation we may not have easy access to water, food, shelter and security that we enjoy daily. There is however a solution that could significantly increase your chances of survival in the event of a disaster.
Basic Equipment
The easiest way to prepare for any scenario is to have what’s called a survival backpack. This is typically a bag that is filled with a number of essentials that can be used in an emergency situation. If you’ve ever been camping, backpacking or hiking you’ll know that once you have some basics you can essentially survive in almost any situation. Things such as water, food, shelter, security and fire are all considered essentials. A survival backpack can provide all of these things in one easy to carry package.
The easiest way to get started is to purchase an all in one solution, bag and everything. While this is the easiest and quickest solution it is essential that you familiarise yourself with the contents. Most survival experts agree that it is best to prepare your own kit with items that you have collected yourself.
Either way as long as you understand the function of the equipment in your kit bag you have a significant advantage in a survival situation.
There are a lots of different disasters predicted for the future everything from a zombie apocalypse right through to a mysterious Alien planet visitation. While it’s fun to believe the science fiction may happen, real disasters such as fires and floods can and do happen regularly.
With a survival backpack you’re not only prepared for these disasters, but may also be able to help others. The security of being prepared with a plan and basic supplies cannot be under estimated, its cheap and easy.
