Forming your Neighborhood Preparedness Group

Forming your Neighborhood Preparedness Group
As soon as possible, pull together a group of your neighbors.
Call or email, or meet them walking their dog. Make clear it will
be about protecting your neighborhood and they really need to
take it seriously. We don’t want what happened in some cities to
happen here. No politics – it doesn’t matter if you have different
views, or who you will vote for. This is about THEIR safety! Time
is short!

It doesn’t have to be a planned agenda, but more getting to meet
and know each other a little. A very important part of our plan is
making sure we recognize each other for mutual assistance when
things get crazy. So just meet and talk about all their concerns.
Are there any prior military, or law enforcement? first responders?
medical professionals? great assets!

If they are ready to get serious, discuss ingress to your
neighborhood(s). How many ways are there for violent protestors,
for instance, to drive into your area? Google Earth is a great
resource. You might pull it up on a screen for your team to look at.
See if someone can make a large map. On that map, or a plastic
overlay, you will be able later to draw the positions that need to
be blocked, and where the best spots might be to place
observers.

Or just have a forum, where the team can discuss their fears and
ideas they might have for various things. Some people have
never been in a group of like minded people, where they could
openly speak their minds and not seem crazy. Sometimes just
letting them vent together is a very constructive thing! Take
notes, so these issues can be addressed later. Write down their
ideas, even if you don’t like them. It could be helpful later.

Don’t expect the first meeting to be terribly constructive. It’s
basically a meet and greet, and this is very important. When you
set your second or third meeting, we can be there if you like, to
help motivate and make suggestions. Contact us at
ycoathkeepers.com to set a date.

You’ll do great! Get busy, and let us know how it goes!

As the group gets together over time, everyone will see that there
are one or two people who seem to be organized, or have an
understanding of issues, or get things done. These people may
turn out to be your leaders, which will eventually be very useful.

In the meantime, everyone has an equal say, everyone’s ideas
should be taken seriously. Do not be dismissive or ridicule
anyone. You never know how even the ones you don’t
particularly have confidence in can turn out to be exactly what
you need! Be kind, always.
